Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do you travel outside of Lincoln, NE?
A: Yes! We will travel as far as 3.5 hours in any direction. Mileage rates apply.

 

Q: Can you guarantee the character I want is available?

A: No, we cannot. For this reason, you'll notice that we ask for your first and second choice of character on our booking page. We recommend beginning the booking process at least a month in advance to have the best chances of booking the princess you are hoping for. 

 

Q: Can I book an event less than a month away?

A: Yes, you can book at any time- but know that we cannot guarantee availability.

 

Q: Do you do events other than birthday parties?

A: All. The. Time. We love visiting libraries, school classrooms, Halloween events, work parties, and more! Email amelia@wandswhimsy.com to talk pricing. 

 

Q: What if I need to cancel the event?

A: Please refer to our cancellation policies below.

 

Q: Can I alter your packages? 

A: The price and time limit of our birthday party packages are non negotiable, though we are happy to make activity accommodations based on party size, age of party guests, and where the event is taking place. 

 

Q: Your birthday party packages say MAX 30 or 40 minutes. Am I guaranteed 30-40 minutes of entertainment?

A: Good question! Max times are simply that- a maximum amount of time that our characters will spend at your event, not a guaranteed amount of time. You are, however, guaranteed the activities listed for each package*, but the time of the event is entirely based upon how many children are in attendance and how engaged they are in the event itself. 

*Performer Safety: Please know that if our performers feel they are in danger at any time, they are instructed to leave immediately, whether or not they have completed all activities in the party package. You will not receive a refund.

 

Q: My child is shy, but would love to meet a princess. Can I still book a package?

A: Absolutely! All Wands and Whimsy performers have gone through training geared towards children who may be timid, scared, or nervous. We celebrate all children and would be thrilled to meet your little one! (ps- We find that if your shy little one invites a friend who is more outgoing, your little one will open up faster to our characters.)

 

 

 

Covid 19: Beginning May 1st, 2020 Wands and Whimsy will be open for in person events. Our focus has always and will always be on the safety of our cast and clients. From May 1st, 2021 - Oct. 1st, 2022 we are recommending masks for all guests, whether indoors or outdoors. Your event will still include all of the magical aspects you love (singing, playing games, story time, meet and greets, photos), but now with an extra layers of caution. We are diligent in our safety practices and will do everything in our power to keep you and yours safe. As the pandemic continues to progress, we will keep a watchful eye on city, state, and national guidelines. Our decision to stay open to in person events is dependent on local and statewide case numbers and community spread, the Lincoln Covid Risk Dial, and the comfort of our cast members. Our policies are open to change at any time. If cancelation of an event is needed due to the pandemic a refund and/or reschedule will be offered.

 

Confirmation: Your event is not confirmed until you book through our website, discuss details via email, and receive a confirmation email with an invoice. Please be sure to follow up on all emails so that we get you on our calendar as soon as possible.

 

Payment: Once your confirmation email including invoice has been sent, please send a check to the included address or pay via PayPal BEFORE your event. All payment is due on the day of your event. If payment hasn’t been received, there will be a late charge. 

 

Cancellation: We understand-things happen! If you cancel your event a month prior, you will receive a full refund. If you cancel within a month prior to your event, there will be a 50% refund. If you cancel the week of your event, barring an emergency, there is no refund. 

 

Weather Cancellation: While we have never had to cancel an event due to weather, we are prepared for the following three situations:

 

1) If you choose to cancel the event day of, there is no refund.*

2) If you choose to cancel the event at least 1 day prior to the booking (due to weather ONLY), there is a 50% refund.*

3) If our actor is unable to get to the event because of weather, you may reschedule the event or receive a full refund. 

 

*Please note that if you choose to reschedule the event (due to weather only), we will move forward as normal with the rescheduled date- no fees or refunds needed. We cannot guarantee actor or character availability on your preferred rescheduled date, though we will do everything in our power to make it so.
